OUR HISTORY

KlipTech™ is a pioneering developer and manufacturer of sustainable, environmentally healthy materials used for countertops, tabletops, flooring and exterior cladding and specialty surfacing products derived from FSC-certified recycled paper/wood fiber and bamboo fiber.

The company’s roots date back to 1999, when Joel Klippert and his wife, LeeAnn, started a business in their garage to develop eco-friendly, high performance composite surfacing products. After two years of product testing, KlipTech Composites Inc. was born with the launch of RampX, a strong and durable recycled paper-based composite surface for the skateboard ramp industry. Soon after the commercialization of RampX, the Klipperts developed PaperStone™, a revolutionary recycled paper countertop product that became a well-known brand in the green-building and architecture/design communities.

In 2004 the Klipperts formed a formal business partnership with their resin supplier to produce the KlipTech product range. In 2007 they sold the PaperStone brand to their partners and reincorporated under the name Klip BioTechnologies LLC and continued using the KlipTech name for a new line of products.

Today KlipTech’s core product offering includes EcoTop™ surfaces for residential and commercial environments; EcoClad™ exterior siding products; and EcoTop™ Sport skateboard ramp surfaces. KlipTech also has a specialty products division that designs and develops surfaces for custom applications.

KlipTech’s corporate philosophy is framed around the concept that sustainability and environmental health should be part of the mainstream, and not just limited to the green-building industry and architecture/design community. EcoTop and EcoClad were developed for easy assimilation into traditional production building projects.

The active commitment to the discovery and progression of sustainable manufacturing practices allows the company to help maintain the earth’s natural resources for future generations without compromising quality or style.  The company’s products are comprised of a patent-pending 50/50 blend of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified post-consumer recycled paper and wood fiber, as well as bamboo fiber, and bound together by a 100-percent water-based co-polymer resin, EcoTop and EcoClad are VOC- and benzene-free and can contribute to seven different credits within the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building standards.
